Organizational Assessments: Setliff and Associates will collect and analyze data to understand your organization's (company, division, department, group) current work climate and may include an overall analysis of the culture or more specifically may look at employee satisfaction, readiness to change, productivity, training needs, and workforce competencies and capabilities, employee relations, and customer service. Case Study: The procurement division of a large government office had struggled for many years with providing efficient, effective service for internal clients. Employees worked long hours but without a shared focus and morale was very low. A new director from outside the organization was hired to 'fix' the problem, but with little experience in the agency and with 200 or so employees under her watch, she did not understand the myriad issues that contributed to the difficult work climate. Setliff and Associates was hired to perform an extensive culture audit, interviewing almost 50% of the employees in several focus groups. Data was collected from multiple position levels and responsibilities. The summary report outlined the current state of the organization with regard to its ability to become customer focused, identified specific issues that recurred as issues needing immediate attention, and made recommendations for developing a healthier, more productive work environment. Subsequent to completion of the culture audit and report, Setliff and Associates was asked to facilitate a strategic planning meeting that would set the stage for meeting key performance goals, improving employee satisfaction, and developing a new focus on customer service. Our consultants are trained in the delivery and analysis of multiple assessment instruments, including 360 assessments, personality assessments, and assessments of specific leader-manager competencies(e.g. conflict, team communication, readiness for change). Setliff and Associates can also guide individuals through the development of personal action plans that focus on specific skill enhancement, and we can provide personalized coaching. Personal Coaching for Managers: As part of a development program or as an intervention strategy, Setliff and Associates will provide one-on-one or team coaching. Coaching is provided face-to-face or by phone (or email if appropriate). Setliff and Associates was asked to coach a manager in a new position requiring him to take on a leadership role. Through the individual had 20 years of professional experience, most of that time was spent in scientific endeavors with few supervisory responsibilities and no leadership and/or management training. As a result of a 360 assessment the manager became aware of several gaps in his skill set, gaps that were getting in the way of his ability to develop and maintain a productive work group. After the first coaching session, the manager committed to a developmental process to build or enhance skills, and after four sessions he felt comfortable on his own and has proceeded to implement effective leader-manager techniques. In this case, Setliff and Associates helped him develop self awareness through a series of effective questions, and, once he indicated he was ready, we guided him to develop his own developmental road map and provided tools that he could use on his own. Rebecca Setliff, principal of Setliff and Associates, uses energy and humor to present dinner speeches and keynotes to audiences of all sizes. Her speeches are inspirational, informative, and customized to fit the audience and the event theme. Examples include "Get Out of Your Own Way," "Leadership's Dirty Little Secret," and "Recruiting and Retaining the Best Talent: A Multi-Generational Approach." She regularly provides motivational closing remarks to executive groups that have completed personal development programs.
